Environment
Court Interim Decision
Heres an article in "The Aucklander" Thursday
March 29th
"The Aucklander"
SSOSI defended the decision made by RDC Commissioners to
reject the application for a marina.
The Commissioners said in their decision;
The proposal would not promote the purpose of sustainable
management of natural and physical resources and while it
would provide for the social and cultural wellbeing of those
seeking a marina berth; it would not provide for the social and cultural wellbeing and
safety of the wider Sandspit community. |
However, the new Auckland Council decided
to back the appeal by the Marina Society and settle it by consent..
The Environment Court began on January 23rd and lasted an
intense 6 days with Judge Smith reserving his decision.
His interim decision came through early March announcing
that subject to a raft of conditions, the marina can proceed.

SSOSI makes submission to draft Rodney plan
The following article is from the Rodney
Times July 12th 2011.

Whilst we agree with the views of Dr. Roger
Grace, leading Marine
Biologist, we would take issue with the other comments in the article.
There is no guarantee that a marina at Sandspit would provide a
refuelling facility and the parking problem at Sandspit is apparent for
most of the time between September and May.
